DALTON - Doris Mae Engwer, 86, of East Deming Street passed away Sunday at Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center in Lenox following a brief illness. Born June 17, 1924 in Pittsfield the daughter of George and Nettie Ha thawa y Wa t k i n s , she attended Dalton Schools. D o r i s worked as a waitress in many local e s t a b l i s h ments and worked in the nursing field for many years.
She leaves her husband Gerald K. Engwer with whom she recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary, they were married April 16, 1946.
Doris is survived by her children David Engwer and his wife, Pam, of Plymouth, Mass., Judith LaPlante and her husband, Bob, of Springfield, Mass., Dianne Garvey and her husband, Mike, of Dalton, Mass., Darlene D'Avella and her husband, Buddy, of Pittsfield, Mass., Jerry Engwer and his wife, Sharon, of Florida, Mass.; sister, Rose Steadward of Novinger, Mass.; 21 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by six sisters and three brothers.
