  unknown newspaper Mary E. (Burke) McMillan, 90, King City, Mo., died Friday, Aug. 31, 2001, at a King City health-care center. Mrs. McMillan taught at a rural elementary school in California and in Andrew, DeKalb, and Gentry (Mo.) counties. Born on Jan. 27, 1911, in DeKalb, Mo., she graduated from King City High School and attended Northwest Missouri State Teacher's College. Mrs. McMillan was a member of the King City Christian Church, serving as Sunday school teacher, youth leader, CWF member, and secretary to the church board. She was a 50-years member of the former King City Chapter No. 136, Order of Eastern Star, and served on the board of directors for the Sunset Nursing Home, Maysville, Mo. On April 30, 1932, in St. Joseph, Mo., she married Clay s. McMillan. He preceded her in death in 1988. Mrs. McMillan was also preceded in death by her parents, Esther and William P. Burke; a brother, Louis Burke; a sister, Irene Guest, and a infant sister. Surviving: a son, Bill McMillan, King City; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
