WILMINGTON, N.C. -- Phil Tunks, 68, Wilmington, formerly King City, Mo., died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, at Cape Fear Hospital, Wilmington. Mr. Tunks was employed by Kaiser Roth Hosiery, Ship N' Shore and White Stag by Waranco, and was president of Christian Dior Hosiery. He also was self-employed for 13 years as an apparel representative in Atlanta, Ga. He was a veteran, serving with the Army Artillery NCO.
Born April 18, 1935, in King City, he was the son of Leora Blair of King City and the late Burke Tunks. Before moving to Wilmington, Phil, and his wife, "Kathy'' lived in Atlanta, Chicago, Charlotte, Texas and Connecticut, and made many friends through their love of the apparel business. Mr. Tunks attended Wrightsville Beach, N.C., United Methodist Church. He was an avid golfer and loved the beach.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Kathleen, Wilmington; son, Jeffrey Phillip Tunks, and wife, Katharine; and grandsons, Jordan and Bradley, all of Mason Neck, Va.; brother, Dr. Donald Tunks, and wife, Dr. Lili Tunks, Overland Park, Kan.; two stepbrothers, Frank Blair, and wife, Jo, Plattsburg, Mo.; and Marion Blair, and wife, Linda, Vanore, Tenn.; sister-in-law, Nancy Carlson, and husband, Tom, White Bear, Minn.; and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
