Aletta Gates, 75, of Stillwater, died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at Stillwater Medical Center.
Gates was born in Stillwater to Charles and Minnie Holzer Sept. 7, 1925. She married Henry O. Gates in El Reno in April 1942. He preceded her in death Oct. 22, 1993.
Gates called Stillwater home, but moved with her family to several states throughout the western United States during her life. She was a devoted homemaker.
She is predeceased by her husband; one sister, Billie Madison of Washington; six brothers, Charles Holzer and Chris Holzer, both of Stillwater, Lawrence Holzer of Guthrie, Jolly Holzer of Boulder, Colo., Lloyd Holzer of Skiatook, and Ora Holzer of Fairbanks, Alaska; one daughter, Annabelle Edwards of Stillwater; and one son “Billy Boy” Gates of Stanley, N. Mex.
She is survived by one brother, Glen Holzer of Stillwater; two sisters, Mary Holzer of Sperry, Doris Holzer of Guthrie; one son, Joe Gates of Platte City, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
