God has gained a real jack-of-all-trades today. If it's broken, it will soon be fixed.
Clinton A. Rogers of Helena died Saturday afternoon, Nov. 29, 2008. He was 82 years old. He was surrounded through a difficult illness by his family. With him during his last days were his loving wife of 59 years, Mavis Rogers; his two daughters, Clinda Rae Feucht with husband James R. Feucht and their daughter Mandi, Jody Doubek with her husband John, and three children, Andrew (Charlotte), Jake and Anna with husband Shane Larson.
Clinton was born on Aug. 5, 1926 in Pray. At a young age, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving with honors in the Pacific Fleet from 1944 to 1946. He returned to Livingston to complete his education and there fell in love with his childhood sweetheart whom he first met at age 8, Mavis Melin. They married on Feb. 6, 1949, at Pine Creek Methodist Church, were blessed with two daughters, Clinda and Jody, and have been together every step of the way.
Clinton was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Earl and Hazel Leota Rogers, and brother Milton.
Clinton worked as a foreman for the Chaney Ranch in the Paradise Valley. He then became a police officer in Livingston and served as assistant chief until his retirement in 1981. He then took over the very same school bus route his father had driven before him in Livingston. He was loved in the community, and he adored driving the children to school. Over the years he was also known for his skill as a carpenter, woodworker and concrete finisher. These were just a few of his many gifts and talents.
Many family members have said that if everyone were more like Clinton, there would be no need for charities. Clinton was known for his extraordinary kindness, and he touched the lives of countless people with his unique warmth and compassion. He was known for his humorous one-liners and possessed a "chuckle" that came from the belly and could fill a room with smiles.
