MISSOULA - Barbara Jean DeMott passed away Thursday, April 5, 2007, at her home. She was born March 1, 1947, in Livingston, the daughter of Homer Loyal and Anna Margaret (Stands) Congdon.
At a young age, her family moved to Billings where her father was employed by Sweetheart Bakery. It was here she achieved her education. She was very active in Cub Scouts, Brownie Scouts, Girl Scouts and 4-H. After high school, she attended Eastern Montana College and graduated in the honors program. After graduation she was employed as a teacher in the Billings district.
Barbara married David L. DeMott on Aug. 20, 1971. They were blessed with two sons: Michael John DeMott and Ryan Christopher DeMott.
Barbara has been employed by the Missoula County School District for many years where she had the passion of a fabulous teacher with a strong, caring and loving heart who knew no bounds in giving of herself. Barbara's mom once described her as being a kind and thoughtful person no matter who you may be. She was highly respected and loved by all who knew her. She was active in various committees, ADK Sorority, book club and enjoyed playing cards. She was an avid Avalanche hockey fan not only for the game but cared so much for each player on the team. She and her son Ryan never missed a televised game.
