  La Crosse Tribune (WI) December 28, 2017 Mattie Lou Thomason (Heath), 84, of La Crosse passed away peacefully Monday, Dec. 25, 2017. Mattie was born Dec. 7, 1933, in Ettrick to Kenneth and Julia Heath. Mattie spent her life always helping others and worked in the health care field until she retired. She was a member of Olivet Lutheran Church, where she enjoyed her Monday night yoga, Wednesday Bible study and attending church services. Mattie was always doing crafts, making photo albums, gardening, canning, making her famous rosettes. She loved to watch and feed the birds in the backyard and spending time with her beloved Rosie Mae. Mattie had a huge heart and was always doing for others. Mattie is survived by her sister, Shirley (Marvin) Heiller of Caledonia, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews; great and great-great-nieces and nephews. Mattie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Larry; brothers, Stanley and Harold Heath; sisters, Mavis Merrick and Doris Ally.
