GROTON - Gene A. Rollins, 69, of Clarks Landing Street, died Thursday April 5, 2007, at the Rowan Heath and Rehabilitation Center in Barre. Born June 30, 1937, he was the son of Floyd and Bertha Rollins. He attended local schools.
He had worked at Chanel Mills and Bradford Veneer in earlier years, most recently he was employed by Britton Lumber in Ely, prior to his retirement. On July 8, 1972, he married Gwendolyn LaTulippe in Milton. They lived in Milton and later lived in several Vermont communities, including 25 years in Bradford and for the past year in Groton. Mr. Rollins served eight years in the Vermont Army National Guard. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Gene Rollins Jr. of Irasburg and Timothy Rollins of Rutland; a daughter, Marylou Avery of Groton; a brother, Herbert Rollins of Bloomington, Ind.; a sister, June Parker of Williamstown; and three grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara Jean; a brother, Ronald Rollins; and two sisters, Evelyn Poirie and Daisy Donald.
