WEBSTERVILLE - John A. Donald, 77, of Websterville Road, passed away peacefully with his family and loved ones by his side on Tuesday, September 16, 2003, at the Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin. Born September 28, 1925 in Groton, he was the son of Robert and Marion (King) Donald. He attended Montpelier High School and left to serve in the United States Army during WWII. He served with the 10th Mountain Infantry in Italy.
On March 1, 1952, he married Daisy Rollins in Websterville where they made their home. His wife predeceased him on July 12, 1998. A truck driver and mechanic, he spent most of his career in the granite industry working for Ted Ladd's Trucking for over forty years. John loved the outdoors, deep sea and ice fishing, hunting and snowmobiling. He enjoyed riding and exploring the back roads and woods of Vermont and especially camping. He spent many happy years at his camp in Marshfield where he made many friends. Possessing an incredible sense of humor, he spent many years pulling pranks, making people laugh, and especially enjoyed making people smile. His favorite targets were his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the Canadian Club and former member of the Teamsters Union Local 597 of Barre and the Barre Thunder Chickens Snowmobile Club.
He is survived by his four daughters, Connie Coburn of Websterville and her children, Carly and Brady, Ann Holland and her husband Wayne of Worcester, Brenda Tisdale and her husband, Patrick of Northfield and their children, Michael and Katherine, and Mary Donald-Abair and her husband George Abair Jr. of Websterville; his companion, Dorothy Dyke of Marshfield; three sisters, Stella Rouelle of Calais, Alice Partlow of Northfield, and Ruth Hasseltine of Lisbon, NH; nieces and nephews.
His brother, Robert Donald and sister, Marydell Martin predeceased him.
