COUNCIL GROVE - Moffitt, Eugene Kenneth, 84, died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2006 at the Morris County Hospital in Council Grove. He was a resident of Wichita from 1945 to 1983 when he moved to Council Grove.
He was born April 23, 1921 at Kremlin, Okla., the son of B.E. and Florence A. Grey Moffitt. He graduated from Rogers High School in Rogers, Ark. with the class of 1940. He served in the Navy Air Corps as a bombardier in the Pacific Theater for 4 years during WWII. He received an Associate Degree in Administrative Justice from Wichita State University in 1950.
Mr. Moffitt was a Sergeant of Detectives with the Wichita Police Department and retired in 1971 after 23 years. After his retirement from the police department he was head of the Probation and Parole Office of the Municipal Court in Wichita. He retired from that position in 1983 due to health related issues.
His marriage to Marie A. Six was on June 27, 1945 in Coldwater, Kan. She survives. Other survivors include: sons, Richard and wife, Jena of Sweetwater, Texas, Paul and wife, Linda, Michael and wife, Laurie all of Wichita, Christopher and wife, Josie of St. Louis, Mo.; brother, Carol and wife, Shirley of Stockton, Mo.; grandchildren, Rebecca Kidd, Autum Crane, Alia, Allison, Taylor and Tyson Moffitt; great-grandchild ren, Dakota Crane and Grady Kidd.
