  Newsletter of the International Haskell Family Society Volume 14, No. 2, June 2005 The following is extracted from the March 16th front page of Bruce Haskell's beloved Kiwanis Club's Thousand Oaks Log: The passing of BRUCE HASKELL in Hawaii last Wednesday, March 9, will leave a huge void in the ranks of the Kiwanis Club of Thousand Oaks (California, USA). He passed away one hour after landing on the island. There [was] a celebration of Bruce's life on Sunday, March 20, 4 p.m. at the Haskell home. Bruce once said: "Don't ask me to chair anything; don't ask me to lead. I only want to volunteer and work." And work he did. Along with his good co-volunteer he could always be found at every event the club sponsored. He was also, right up to the end, a part of the house committee. Bruce was born in August 1926 in Decatur, Illinois, the only child of Bruce Sr. and Beulah Haskell. He and Joyce were married in 1955 when they eloped to Arizona. Together they had three children, Michael, Jenneth and Teresa, and they have 14 grandchildren. Bruce spent his working life in the aerospace industry with companies that included Northrup, Douglas, North America, and General Dynamics. He served with the Air Force, mostly in Tokyo, from 1945 until 1947. Wednesday mornings and Kiwanis events just won't be the same with Bruce gone. Like Joyce and the entire Haskell family, we will miss him terribly.
