HYRUM, Utah - Lora Terry Allen passed away on Sept. 16, 2009, in Reno, Nev. She was born to William and Edna Terry on April 8, 1920, in Fairview, Utah.
She met and married Victor Jay Allen on Dec. 23, 1941, in Logan, Utah, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Temple.
She has been a resident of Nevada for the last 55 years, having moved here from Kailue, Hawaii, where she learned to love hula and performed throughout the Reno area in the 1950s and '60s.
In college Lora majored in home economics. She was an avid bridge player, volunteer at the Washoe Medical Center for 25 years, a charter member of the Golf Club USA and held numerous church positions. She was a world traveler and visited all of the states in the U.S. Lora was a league bowler and in golf made a hole in one.
Lora was preceded in death by her husband, V. Jay Allen; brother Glen Terry; sister Beth Orme; and her parents.
She is survived by her sons, Richard Jay of Houston, Texas; Brent Terry of St. Louis, Mo.; and daughter Marci Wilson of Carson City, Nev.; brother Robert H. Terry of Seattle, Wash.; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Terry, of Provo, Utah; grandchildren, Staci Passe, Nicole Knutson, Michele Allen, Ryan Allen, Kelly Allen, Julie Allen, Kyle Allen, Derek Wilson, Kendra Wilson and Terili Wilson.
