POCATELLO Ethel M. Criddle, 91, passed away Wednesday morning, February 14, 2001, at a local care center in Pocatello, Idaho, from causes incident to age.
She was born April 11, 1909, at Hyrum, Utah, one of nine children of Reuben Franklin Allen and Agnes M. Pope. She grew up in Logan, Utah, and attended Utah State University, where she received her teaching certificate. She taught school in Utah for four years.
On June 23, 1937, she married Charles Henry Criddle in the Salt Lake City, Utah LDS Temple. They had two daughters, Donna Jean and Charlene.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in the organizations of Young Women, Primary, Sunday school and Relief Society. She was a member of the Federated Womens Club, Knife and Fork Club, and was a Rotary Ann, and civic representative in the American Legion Auxiliary.
She loved her family, and was a generous and kind grandmother, always remembering the special holidays in the lives of her grandchildren, Lorie, Ryan, Jeff, Jason, Nathan, Jared and Shannon Lee, as well as Stephen, Allen, Stephanie, Katherine, JonDa, William and Arthur Tanner.
She was an elegant hostess as well as a wonderful cook, and entertained many friends and relatives. She loved flowers and grew beautiful roses. She had a special friendship with many longtime neighbors.
She is survived by one daughter, Charlene (Brent) Lee, Pocatello; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two sisters, Emajean Hansen and Melba Standing, both of Salt Lake City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Donna Tanner, her parents, four brothers and two sisters.
