R. Glen Williams, age 81, passed away Saturday April 30, 2005, of pneumonia and Alzheimer's disease in Bountiful, UT. He was born July 31, 1923 in Salt Lake City, UT to Gerald and Ruth Williams. He was the youngest of three children.
On June 29, 1946, he married Mary Tucker. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. After 57 years together,
Mary preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother Quentin and sister Merle.
Glen served in World War II where he was stationed in New Guinea and the Philippine Islands. Following the war, he went to work at the Deseret News Press. He retired in 1988 after 43 years. He loved the outdoors and was a master bow hunter. Twice he had the opportunity to hunt big game in Alaska. He was a lifetime member of Pope and Young, a club for archers which allowed only 100 members worldwide at the time. Glen spent his life taking care of others, especially his family. He was kind, generous, and always there to lend a helping hand.
He is survived by his daughters: Kay and Sally; five grandchildren: Misty, Rob, Stephanie (Tim), Ryan (Caya), and Aaron (Amberlie); and five great-grandchildren: Taylor, Nic, Michael, Zac, and Tava.
