  The Gazette (Colorado Springs, CO) January 26, 2003 Shirlee A. Meacham, 81, of Colorado Springs, died Friday, January 24, 2003 at a local hospital. She was born December 7, 1921 in Wellsville, Utah to Norman J. and Leta (Nielsen) Allen. She grew up in Utah and attended Utah State University. She married Joseph Russell Meacham in Logan, Utah on November 13, 1946. Shirlee was an accomplished musician as an organist and pianist for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints as well as a third generation lifetime member thereof. She traveled extensively and lived abroad in Germany for three years and Thailand for two years with her husband and children. Shirlee was a wonderful mother and loving wife. She will be greatly missed by all. She is survived by her husband of over 57 years Colonel Joseph "Russ" Meacham, US Army Retired; one son, Jay R. Meacham (wife, Janet) of Colorado Springs; one daughter, Kathleen A. Smith (husband, Lennie) of Colorado Springs; sister, Coleene Neerings of St. George, Utah and sister-in-law Adelle Allen of Modesto, California; one brother, Robert Coleman of Phoenix, Arizona; eight grandchildren and one great-grandson. Private burial at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
