  The Deseret News June 2, 2005 Elaine Leona Garside 1924 ~ 2005 Elaine Leona Monson Garside, loving wife, mother and grandmother, age 80, passed away May 30, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Elaine was born November 26, 1924 in Salt Lake City to Albert J. Monson and Chloe Shaw Monson. She graduated from Cyprus High School. Elaine married Heber Blake Garside on May 19, 1943 in Salt Lake City. Active member of the L.D.S. Church where she served in many capacities including Primary and Young Woman's President, she was a wonderful teacher, Jordan River Temple worker, served a Mission to Cambodians and Washington D.C. Temple. She was active in politics, community affairs and P.T.A. President. She loved life and people, always cheerful and had a wonderful sense of humor. She will be greatly missed by many, especially her family and friends. Elaine is survived by her children, Kim (Don) Gurney, Marsha (Gary) Beck, Jan (Bill) Witsman, Heber Blake Jr. (Susan) Garside, Teren (Ed) Knight and Nona (Greg) Porter; siblings, Colleen (Norman) Bangerter, LaRue (Lee) Kirk and Dr. Jay A. (Jane) Monson; 27 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband and parents. We miss and forever love you Mom! Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.
