Gerad I. Nielsen, 81, passed away Dec. 27, 2000. He was born May 11, 1919 in Hyrum, Utah. The son of Morris and LaVeda Allen Nielsen. Married Connie Van Frank (deceased) in 1947 and Bea Richins in 1984 (later divorced). Gerad served as a Master Sergeant in World War II and survived the Normandy In-vasion at Omaha Beach. After his military service, he was involved in numerous real estate and business ventures, including Nielsen Valve and Supply.
He is survived by daughter, Diane (Russ) Ferrin, Midvale; son, Jeff (Karen) Nielsen, Park City; and daughter, Carole (Richard) Stott, Sandy, Utah. Grandchildren include: Ryan Ferrin, Alecia Ferrin, Katie Nielsen, Robert Nielsen, Jessica Stott, James Stott and Alex Stott. Surviving brothers are Jack and Darrell Nielsen; and sisters, Marg Purser, Joan Muir and Jean Muir. Gerad is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Allen; brothers, Edward and Lennis; and sisters, Claris and Carole.
Interment, Utah Veterans Memorial Park.
