  Find-a-Grave JAMES DICKSON BRIDGE 1922 – 2007 With sadness we announce the death of our husband, father, grandfather and friend, JIM BRIDGE. Born June 1, 1922 the fourth child and first son of John Henry Bridge and Alvira Aurelia Dickson in Magrath, AB. He married Margaret Allen April 29, 1943 in the home of N. Eldon Tanner and was sealed in the Alberta Temple the next week, May 5, 1943. He was predeceased by his parents, one sister (Betty Tanner), one grandchild and two great grandchildren. He is survived by his dear wife Margaret; two sisters, Avilda Coleman (Magrath) and Geraldine Andersen (Salt Lake City, UT); and one brother, Jack (Maxine) Bridge (Raymond). His children include: Rod (Sally) Bridge of Provo, UT, Norma Stevens of Provo, UT, Helen (Gary) Meek of Sherwood Park, AB, Beverly (Mark) Wilson of Lehi, UT, Maureen (Dick) Larsen of Raymond, AB and Louise (Bruce) Hudson of Calgary, AB as well as 38 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren. A beloved family man, he had the talent of making everyone think that they were Grandpa's favorite – and we were. Jim served in the RCAF for four years during WWII, a year and a half overseas. After the war was over, he worked for 39 years in the Raymond Mercantile Co. Ltd. He worked almost all positions there, eventually becoming manager and then owner. He sold the business in 1994. He loved people and his associations at the "Merc" and said that he was always anxious to get up in the morning and go to work. He loved Raymond and worked civically in many positions to move the town forward. He enjoyed curling, golf, packing into the back country with horses, as well as a little hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all of his life and held many positions including scout leader, Bishop, Stake President and temple worker. He and Margaret served two missions for the Church in Hawaii where he was able to use his excellent organizational skills. The first was as Director of the Temple Visitor's Centre and the second, as a proselytizing missionary, he was able to help with distribution and work after hurricane Iniki hit Kauai. Jim passed away the afternoon of Thursday, January 25, 2007. He came from a good family and he raised a good family. He had lots of friends and he will be missed by us all.
