  The Deseret News (Salt Lake City, UT) December 15, 2001 John Sherman Pitman Tanner died Dec. 12, 2001 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born Sept. 6, 1937 in Salt Lake City, to Evelyn Joy Pitman and John Sherman Tanner; second of 11 children and the only son. He graduated from BYU with a degree in computer science, served an LDS mission and was in the Air force during the Vietnam War. He married Donna Jean Criddle in the Salt Lake Temple. Donna preceded him in death Oct. 3, 1989. He is survived by his seven children: Stephen, Allen, Stephanie, Katherine, JonDa, William, Arthur, and one grandchild, Rebekah Hindmarsh. He is also survived by his sisters: Joy, Judy, Janet, Nina, Dawn, Lizette, Rayda, and Marilyn. Burial will be in Utah Veterans Memorial Park in Riverton
