Jack J. Burnett 5/24/1929~7/16/2006 Jack J. Burnett joined his eternal sweetheart, Marlene, on July 16, 2006 after a brief illness. Jack was born on May 24, 1929 in Sunset, Utah, the son of Joseph and Martha Burnett. He graduated from Davis High School and then earned a degree in business from Utah State University, where he was an active member of the Sigma Chi fraternity.
His country called during the Korean War and Jack made his contribution serving in France. One of his duties while serving in the military was acting as supply sergeant, where he came to appreciate order and precision. This trait got him in a bit of trouble after marrying Marlene when he made the mistake of requesting that the sheets be perfectly ironed before being placed on the bed. That didn't go over too well and he learned to live with wrinkled sheets.
Jack married Marlene Clawson, the love of his life, on August 6, 1954, in the Logan LDS Temple. Their marriage was one that endured through time and will continue into eternity because of the way they loved and served each other. Their example was admired and appreciated by all who knew them. Jack had a great capacity for work, was the ultimate "salesman" and loved to stay busy. He was employed by Smith Corona for many years and upon "retirement", immediately went to work for his son, building the business, and recruiting, visiting and supporting new and current clients. Jack was loved and will be sorely missed by the many friends he met through his various work activities. He was well known for reciting jokes of various colors and playing pranks on his work associates. The workplace was made instantly brighter when Jack walked into the room. Jack loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, as well as many different sports; all of which were made better because he shared them with family and friends. Grandpa Jack (also known as "Jacky Wacky") was a favorite with his grandchildren, as he made each of them feel important and loved. Rare were the times Grandpa Jack came visiting when he didn't have some candy or treat to share. Birthday parties and holidays will not be the same without him. He will be missed by all who loved him.
Jack is survived by his daughters: Anne Yates, Jill Corry (Scott), Kim Sampson (Curtis); son David Burnett (Katie Eccles); 17 grandchildren; and sisters Evelyn Long and Jayne Facer.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Ethel Wiberg, grandsons Sean Corry and Kurt Kupfer, and his wife, Marlene.
Interment-Lakeview Cemetery. O
