Glenn Adkins, 83, of Scio, died Dec. 29, 2004, at Santiam Hospital in Stayton.
Private burial will be at the Lebanon I.O.O.F. cemetery.
He was born July 28, 1921, in Jennings, Ky., the son of John and Sarah (Sparks) Adkins. He was raised in Land O' Lakes, Mich. During World War II, he served in the Army. On Sept. 1, 1942, he married Betty Swett in Chicago, Cook, Illinois. They moved to Lebanon in 1945. Adkins worked in the logging industry as a truck driver. In 1961, he worked as a heavy equipment operator and was involved in the Green Peter Dam project. He retired in 1978 and they moved to Scio in 1980. He was member of Grace Bible Fellowship in Tangent and American Legion Santiam Post 51.
Survivors are daughter Carolyn of Lincoln City; sons Thomas of Lincoln City and Larry of Scio; sister Mary Manning of Escondido, Calif.; brother Jim of Vancouver; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. His wife Betty died on Nov. 26, 2003.
