ORLEANS "Mrs. Deborah H. Pashley (Howe) passed away while by herself at her home in December 2014 of an apparent heart attack.
Debbie was born on the Fourth of July in Ardsley, New York, to Arthur A Howe and Gertrude Herrick Howe (also known as Marcia Howe, printmaker). Debbie was educated at various schools in New York and Colorado, and studied aeronautics at Emory Riddle in Florida.
After a failed first marriage, she returned to Cape Cod and earned a pilot's license. She flew fisherman from Hyannis or Chatham to spots on Monomoy Peninsula, landing on the sandy beaches. An article can be found in The Cape Cod Times archives on when the wind dipped a wing into the surf" the only crash she had to walk away from. She married her second husband, James Pashley, who flew with the Chenault Tigers in World War II. (He was later to become Debbie's friend and flight instructor.) They had a long and happy marriage until his death. After retiring from flying, Debbie worked for several years in the circulation department at The Cape Codder.
She leaves many friends behind, and others who have gone before. Predeceased by her father and mother, she leaves two sisters - Priscilla H. Johnson (William Johnson) of Stamford, CT, and Barbara H Tucker (Ted Tucker) of Lincoln, MA; four cousins, six nieces and nephews, six great nieces and nephews, 3 great great nieces and nephews.
