  The La Porte County Herald-Argus August 14, 2008 Phyllis Miller 79, of La Porte, Ind., passed away Monday, August 11, 2008, at her home. Burial will follow in Patton Cemetery. Rose Rebekah Lodge will have a memorial service Thursday evening at 7 p.m. at Cutler Funeral Home. Phyllis was born Sept. 12, 1928, in Holland, Mich., to the late Frederick W. and Ruth E. (Scharf) Steigely. She was married on October 1, 1950, in LaPorte, to Jack C. Miller who survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Peggy (Bill) Marquardt; one sister, Pam (Steigely) Lang, one brother, Norman (Barbara) Steigely, and sister-in-law, Ruth Steigely. She was preceded in death by one son, Michael C. Miller; two brothers, Fred and Robert J. Steigely; two sisters, Patty and Barbara Ann. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Rose Rebekah Lodge 408 for 59 years, Fairview Hospital and La Porte Hospital Auxiliaries for 40 years and volunteering for 11,489.5 hours.
