Mr. Robert F. Steigely, 75, of 805 Division St., LaPorte, died of natural causes Monday, Jan. 2, 2006, at 9:30 a.m. at his home. He was born Dec. 16, 1930, in LaPorte to Frederick W. and Ruth (Scharf) Steigely.
Mr. Steigely had worked as a foreman at Berkel for 24 years. He was a 40-year member of Moose Lodge 492, serving as past governor and was a member of American Legion Lancers Drum and Bugle Corps. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
On Dec. 30, 1950, he married Faye Ruth Grassmyer, who survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Vicki (Gary) Travis, Laurie (Jeff) Parsons, Julie (Dave) Kampf and Joyce (Art) Christenson, all of LaPorte; two sons, Guy of Chicago and Russell W. of Middletown, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; two sisters, Phyllis Miller and Pam Lang, both of LaPorte; and one brother, Norman of Kewanna, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Mark T.; two grandchildren, Megan and Adam; two sisters, Patty and Barbra Ann; and one brother, Fred.
