  Spartanburg Herald Journal July 13, 1988 Geddes Marvin Cox, Jr., 67, of Fayetteville, NC, died Thursday, July 7, 1988 in Womack Army Hospital, Fort Bragg, NC. A native of Spartanburg, he was the husband of Virginia Quiafe Cox and son of Geddes Marvin Sr. and Pauline Inez Gorge Cox. He was a 1938 graduate of Duncan High School and a 1942 graduate of Wofford College. A retired Army officer after 23 years of service, he served in France during World War II and two tours of duty in the Army of Occupation in Japan after the war. He was a former R.O.T.C. instructor at Furman University and was employed the N.C. Employment Securities Commission in Fayetteville for 18 years, having retired in 1986. He was a member of Sperring Memorial Baptist church in Fayetteville.
