  St. Cloud Times March 22, 2004 Alexander Stephen Turnquist, a 12 year old resident of Upsala, died Friday, March 19 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud. Burial will be held at a later time in Grand Marais. Alex was born May 7, 1991, in Grand Marais Jay and Laura (Quaife) Turnquist. Alex was in the sixth grade at Upsala School in Upsala. He attended Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Upsala. Alex enjoyed legos, knex, game boy, puzzles and listening to music. Alex is survived by his parents, Jay and Laura Turnquist of Upsala; brother, Drew Turnquist of Upsala; sister, Carlee Turnquist of Upsala; grandparents, Allan and Gladys Turnquist of Miles City, Mont. and Steve and Carole Quaife of Grand Marais great-grandparents, Helen Tweit of Miles City, Mont., Bernice Turnquist of Cooperstown, N.D., Phyllis Noyes of Grand Marais and Martha Quaife of Grand Marais; and aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his great-grandfathers, Carl Noyes, Maurice Quaife and Martin Turnquist. .
