- Cicero, of Newbury, was on a descriptive list of men mustered to reinforce the Continental Army for the term of 6 months, agreeable to resolve of June 5, 1780; returned as received of Justin Ely, Commissioner, by Colonel Timothy Bigelow at Springfield, September 7, 1780; age, 21 yrs., stature, 3 ft., 3 in., complexion Negro. He was engaged
for town of Newburyport, arrived at Springfield August 25, 1780; marched to camp September 7, 1780, under command of Ensign Simonds. He was also on a list of men enlisted for the 6 months service and returned by Brigadier General Paterson as having passed muster in a return dated Camp Totoway, October 25, 1780, residence, Newbury. He was also on pay roll for 6 months; men raised by the town of Newburyport for service in the Continental Army during 1780; marched July 3, 1780; discharged February 25, 1781; service 8 months and 1 day including travel (13 days) home.
