Homer J. Newcomb, age 79, of Joplin, Mo., passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 30, at St. John's Regional Medical Center. He fought a long, courageous battle with Parkinson's disease and passed away with his family at his sid
He was married for 60 years to the love of his life, Willa. To this union were born three children, Jerry Newcomb (wife, Jeannie), Janice Henderson (husband, Tim) and Mike Newcomb (wife, Tina).
There were many others in his life that would say Homer was their father-figure as well. Homer was an honest and kind man that lived his life with no regrets. Homer and Willa loved to travel the country, help others and spoil all of their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Homer spent much of his work life as a truck driver for Fleming Companies in Joplin. He loved to square dance and was a caller for various Joplin area clubs such as Western Twirlers, where many lifelong friendships were made. He also had the heart of an entrepreneur and acted on this passion as an owner of many rental properties.
He is survived by his loving wife and three children; three brothers and one sister; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church.
Burial will follow in the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
