FREDERICKTOWN, Mo. -- Cecil Eric "Sam" Mooney, 92, Fredericktown, formerly of St. Joseph, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000, at the hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
For 32 years, Mr. Mooney was employed in sales and sales management at Swift and Co. in St. Joseph until retiring.
Born in Couch, Mo., on April 20, 1908, he had lived in Hannibal, Mo.; St. Joseph; and Phoenix, Ariz., before moving to Fredericktown. Mr. Mooney earned a bachelor of arts degree from Central College in Fayette, Mo. He was a member of the Lutheran Church, Fredericktown; and a volunteer at the Fredericktown Senior Nutrition Center.
In July of 1938, he married Mabel Henry. She died in 1990. Mr. Mooney also was preceded in death by his parents, Albert C. and Ola; a sister, Beulah Smith; and a brother, Carlton. Surviving: two sisters, Lela Light, Ironton, Mo., and Mary Sutterfield, Fredericktown.
