Edwin Dale Wright was born to Ally Lee and Loretta Skinner Wright on May 8,1905, at Cawker City, Ks. He departed this life Wednesday morning, October 3,1990, after a long illness, at the Mitchell County Community Hospital in Beloit, Ks., at the age of 85 years, 4 months and 23 days.
Edwin spent his childhood years In Cawker City. He attended Cawker City High School, and at an early age began working for a bake~ In Cawker City.
On February 28,1941, Ed win was united in marriage to Juanita Claire Skinner at Frederick, Md. This union was blessed with three daughters, Thelma, Joetta, and Janace.
Edwin lived a number of places during his life. He joined the United States Coast and Geodetic Survey Team in 1935. This job took him to many places. He and his wife and family settled in 1946 in Portland, Ore., where he resumed his career of baking. The family moved to Tucson, Ariz., in 1962 and then in 1957 to Cawker City, where they have resided since. He worked for Richardson Manufacturing for several years in the paint department and also did extensive sign painting for them.
Edwin will be long remembered as a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who enjoyed helping others and being with his family. he loved music and imparted his love to his grandchildren. He also liked gardening and was an enthusiastic and ambitious member of the Green Thumb Organization. He enjoyed painting many of the signs at Waconda Lake. Edwin was a member of the United Brethren Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Jack, Gary Lee, George, Richard, and Lawrence who died in infancy; three sisters, Audrey Limbocker, Lois More and a sister who died in infancy.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Juanita of the home; three daughters, Thelma James and husband Obie of Las Vegas, Nev., Joetta Wright of Cawker City, Janice Stover and husband Robert of Cawker City; one brother, Raymond Wright of Payne, Ala.; one sister, Eloise Hollandsworth of Tempie, Tex.; one brother-in-law, Lyle More of Pretty Prairie, Ks.; two sisters-in-law, Geneva Lindsey of Troy, Ks., Lydia Wright of Cawker City; along with seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren
