• Notes

  While living with an uncle in New York, he obtained his uncle's conse nt to join the army. He was a member of Co. E 112 regiment, New York Volunteers, and served three years. He recieved a gunshot wound to his leg and was discharged. In 1869, he homesteaded near his father and brother along the Solomon River in Kansas.
