EAST SPRINGFIELD, Pa. '97 Dorothy M. (Rounds) Rutherford, age 95, of East Springfield, Pa., was called home to be with The Lord on Thursday morning, September 18, 2008, at Fairview Manor.
Dorothy was born in Lavery Corners, Pa., on September 21, 1912, to Burton and Fannie (Hunt) Rounds, and graduated from the West Springfield High School in 1929, and was the last one in her class of twelve students.
She worked and retired after 30 years, as a machinist at the Lords Corporation in Erie.
Dorothy was a member of the Quarter Century of Lords Club, which was through the Lords Corp. She was a member of the Federated Church in East Springfield where she was a member of the Golden Circle. She also was active in the church by making communion bread for Christmas Eve and Baptism Services.
She is survived by a son, Warren "Chaney" Bort and his wife, Myra of East Springfield, Pa.; two step-daughters; Anna and Sally Miller both of Ohio; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Rutherford on August 17, 1950; son, Jerry L. Skinner on February 18, 1984; two sisters, Alice Cole and Myrtle Rounds; and three brothers, Rolly, Warnie and Clayton Rounds.
