Thomas Edward (Ted) Percival, 93, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Highland Park Care Center.
He was born September 29, 1919 in McCook, Nebraska to Thomas Alexander and Fannie (Biddlecomb) Percival. He grew up in Denver, Colorado and attended East Denver High School. He won the Colorado State Champion Wrestling Tournament two consecutive years.
On August 16, 1943 he was united in marriage to Ellen Eileen O'Keefe in Alliance, Nebraska.
He was inducted into the Army Air Corp at Sheppard Field near Wichita Falls, TX on August 30, 1943 and was separated on December 13, 1945 at Lowry Field in Denver.
Ted worked for the Denver Rio Grande Railroad, Chicago Burlington and Quincy Railroad and the Burlington Northern Railroad for total of 46 years retiring in 1982.
Ted enjoyed fishing, pheasant hunting, gardening and was a skilled wood worker. He also refereed high school and college wrestling and high school football. His favorite activity was raising racing pigeons, which was an interest shared with his twin brother throughout both their lives.
He was a member of Holy Rosary Parish, Alliance American Legion and the Colorado Homing Pigeon Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his sister, Louise Murray and his identical twin brother, James Percival.
He is survived by his children Tom Percival (Maureen) of Fairview TX, Jane Kelly (Ronald) of Alliance NE, Helen Dafney (Michael) of Alliance NE, Ned Percival (Ramsey MN), and Kay Hanf (Ted) of Las Vegas NV; his grandchildren Kim, Chrissa, Tommy, Rochelle, Anne, Joan, Nicholas, Adrianne, Dana, Erin, Lana, Drew, Mackenzie, Morgan, Chloe and Camryn; 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
