Russell Dean Haskell, 79, passed away Wednesday, May 1 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 25, 1933, in Sweetser, Ind., the son of the late Roy and Lucille (Amos) Haskell. He married Cheryl Miller, and they enjoyed 31 years together.
Dean was a lab technician at Thompson Consumer Electronics (RCA) for 41 years until his retirement. He was also an Army veteran.
Dean excelled in basketball and baseball in his younger years and later enjoyed playing golf at Shady Hills Golf Course for more than 30 years. He was also an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed traveling with his sons and grandsons to Wrigley Field. Dean was a strong family man and a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Haskell, Marion; two sons, Mike (Susan) Haskell, Indianapolis, and Brad Haskell, Marion; step-son, Lance Miller, Indianapolis; brother, Terry (Sandy) Haskell; two sisters, Eleanor Wright and Sue (Ron) Edwards; and three grandchildren, Ross Haskell, Hannah Haskell and Matthew Haskell.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Max and Don Haskell.
