Richard "Todd" Haskell, born March 6, 1938, in Clarion, Pennsylvania, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. Known simply as "Todd" to all who knew him, he grew up in the close knit community of Clarion, where he developed the quiet determination, kindness, and curiosity that would shape his life.
Todd studied Structural Drafting at the Western Pennsylvania Institute of Technology, a field that suited his meticulous mind and creative eye. He went on to work for the Maryland Institute of Technology and later built his own successful architectural design business, taking great pride in helping others bring their ideas to life.
On August 28, 1965, Todd married the love of his life, Carol Sue Eisenhuth, also of Clarion. Their partnership was one of deep devotion, shared adventure, and unwavering support. In 1970, after many visits to Maryland-and countless sailing excursions with a dear cousin and friend-Todd and Carol settled in Severna Park. It was there, along the Chesapeake Bay, that Todd found one of his greatest passions.
Sailing became more than a hobby for Todd; it was a source of joy, peace, and connection. He fell in love with the water, the wind, and the rhythm of the Bay, and he passed that love on to his daughter, Melissa, with whom he shared many treasured days on the water. Those moments-quiet, steady, full of wonder-reflected the way Todd moved through the world.
Todd was also a proud and devoted member of the Kent Island Yacht Club, where he served as Past Commodore. KIYC was a second home to him-a place where he poured countless hours into volunteering, supporting club activities, and participating in cruises up and down the Chesapeake Bay. The friendships he formed there, and the joy he found on the water, were among the great treasures of his life.
Todd will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his generosity, his craftsmanship, and his deep devotion to his family. He built a life grounded in love, integrity, and simple joys, and he leaves behind a legacy that will continue to guide those who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife Carol, his daughter Melissa, and his son in law Tristan Stewart. He was a proud grandfather to Emma Stewart and Isabella Stewart, who brought him endless joy. All reside in Brookeville, Maryland. He is also remembered fondly by extended family and friends whose lives he touched with kindness and quiet strength.
