Pauline Mae Baird, 77, of Rutland died Sunday, January 21, 2001, at Rutland Regional Medical Center following a long illness. She was born September 11, 1923, in Rutland, the daughter of Walter and Margaret (Stone) Stevens.
In her early years she worked at Dick's Dress Shop, Grant's Retail Store and Pleasant Manor Nursing Home. She attended St. Peter's Church. She was an avid baker. How her family loved her pies. She enjoyed crocheting, camping and family get togethers.
Survivors include her loving son, Maurice E. Baird Jr. of Rutland; her loving daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Louis R. Gabriele Sr. of Rutland Town; two granddaughters, Melissa Knipes of Rutland and Lindsey Baird of Utica, N.Y.; three grandsons, Louis R. Gabriele Jr. of Massillon, Ohio, Michael R. Gabriele of Wilder, Vt., and Jason Baird of Utica, N.Y.; four great-grandchildren, Sarah and M.J. Gabriele of Wilder, Vt., and Bradley and Ava Gabriele of Massillon, Ohio; two brothers, William Stevens of Onalaska, Texas, and Raymond Reed of Virginia; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, Maurice E. Baird Sr., in 1969; a friend, Leonard Van Guilder, in 1993; and a brother, Robert Stevens.
