Karon Emma Quist Burningham, 82, peacefully passed away Dec. 29, 2014, in Kalispell, after a four-month battle with cancer. Karon was born Feb. 4, 1932, in Salt Lake City to parents Oscar William Quist and Gladys Peart Woodbury, who preceded her in death.
She was sealed and married to her eternal companion Richard Burningham March 21, 1958, in the Salt Lake Temple.
Karon grew up in Salt Lake City (Holladay) going to school with her childhood sweetheart. She received education at Granite High School, Henagers, and LDS Business School.
Karon worked hard all her life, starting on her father's tomato farm, and delivering newspapers in Salt Lake City.
She delighted in raising five children, and loved watching them grow, helping all she came in contact with. She moved with her family to Kalispell in 1973. Karon had always given service to PTA, 4-H and the Flathead Genealogical Society. Hobbies and interests were family history, knitting and reading.
Karon was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as Relief Society president, primary, young women helper, family history director, and with temple service missions to Sweden, Toronto, Ontario, and New York City.
Karon enjoyed family gatherings, celebrating special occasions, community activities, visiting old friends and historical sites and learning about this wonderful world she lived on.
Karon is survived by husband, Richard Burningham; children, David R. Burningham of Helena, Steven K. Burningham and wife Valerie of Polson, Renae Hyer of Helena, Eileen and husband Rob Bartlett of Mesa, Arizona, and Mark Burningham and wife Misun of Salt Lake City; brothers and sisters, William, Alfred and Michael Quist, and Anne Stowel; grandchildren, Kelly, Amy, Mclaen, Crystal, Celeste and Tyson Burningham, Christopher and Michael Hyer, Halley, Savannah, and Mallory Bartlett, and Seokhee and Younhee Burningham; and great-grandchildren, Ava Rae and Guiliana Lucille Strainer and Zeleta Ann Page.
