Robert "Bob" Steven Haskell, 63, was born in Somerset, Ky., and passed away from a brave battle with pulmonary disease, CHF, and pneumonia Sunday, July 24, 2011, in Arroyo Grande.
Bob was loved by many and was a true and kind gentleman. He loved animals, nature and his fellow man.
His interests were our space program, music, writing, politics and helping others. He was very involved with his MENSA friends, loyal to his fellow U.S. Army, both active and retired acquaintances.
He had been a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during Vietnam 1966 to 69, and was a victim of agent orange. He was medically discharged with honors.
Bob was with USAMC (USATACOM) U.S. Army, USAJFKSWCS, and named to Special Forces Roll of Honor, member DAV (life) and American Mensa member.
Amongst other things, he was the owner Sneaky Pete's Coffee Bar in Cayucos from 2001 to 06, and went on medical retirement in 2002.
Bob left behind one son, Todd Haskell; cousin, Rick Burke; step-daughter, Rebecca Wood Franklin; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and fiancee, Frances I. Taillon of Arroyo Grande.
