  Carroll County Times (Westminster, MD) October 10, 2000 Vernon J. Horn, 59, of Taneytown, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, at his residence. Born Aug. 28, 1941, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Byron L. and Jessie Horn, and stepson of Jane E. Horn of Westminster. He was the husband of the late Sandra Anne Horn. He was postmaster for the United States Postal Service, Manchester and was an Army veteran. He was a member of the American Legion, Glenn W. Eyler Post 282 in Woodsboro; the National Association of Postmasters; Rocky Ridge Volunteer Fire Company; Raven Roost 16 in Westminster; the National League of Postmasters; and the Baltimore and Carroll County public libraries. Surviving, in addition to his stepmother, are daughters Barbara May Horn and Lexus Ann Horn, both of Taneytown; son Jeffrey Dale Horn of Taneytown; sister Barbara O. Horn of Taneytown; brothers Byron L. Horn of Mount Airy, George D. Horn of Rising Sun, and Gordon D. Horn of Far Rockaway, N.Y.; mother-in-law Dulcie Whaley; and a grandson. Interment will be in Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens, Timonium.
