  Compiled Service Records, Union Company G, 2nd Missouri, calvary Enlisted September 2, 1864 Mustered out June 20, 1865 Description: age 18, born at Cincimmati, Ohio, 5' 8", fair complexion, light hair, grey eyes _____ Civil War Pension File Widow application # 138048, cert # 113205 Bessie died August 21, 1919 _____ Newsletter of the Haskell Family Society Volume 7, No. 4, December 1998 Daniel Noyes Haskell, born Cincinnati in 1846, served in the Union Army's Co. G, 2nd Missouri Cavalry and later in Co. G, 137th Ohio Infantry Regiment. After the War he moved to California to serve as deputy sheriff and police chief in northern California's Redding. While riding guard on the Wells Fargo stage between Redding and Del Mar, with a $10,000 payroll, Dan Haskell was shot and wounded. The Haskell guard's heroism saved the payroll, but he died next day of his wounds. His funeral was the largest ever held in Shasta County.
