The Blade, Toledo

Norman F. Hascall, 85, a downtown Toledo jewelery store operator for 30 years, died Saturday in Hillcrest Nursing Home.
Mr. Hascall, who lived at 565 East South oundary St., Perrysburg, had operated, along with his father, Norman E. Hascall, the former Heesen-Hascall Jewelers, in the Spitzer Building. His grandfather, J. J. Freeman, was the founder of Broer-Freeman Co., one of Toledo's oldest jewelry firms.
After leaving the jewelry business, he was an industrial engineer for the Libbey-Owens-Ford Co., retiring in 1977. Mr. Hascall was a graduate of Culver Military Academy and attended Denison University. He was an army lieutenant during World War I and recieved the French Croix de Guerre for bravery under fire. He was a member of Toldeo Post, American Legion; Carranor Club, and St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, Perrysburg.
Surviving are his wife, Leonara; son, Norman E. II; and daughter, Mrs. Mary Gordon Wickes.
