  Toledo Blade August 18, 2013 Mary Gordon Hascall Wickes, 89, died August 11, 2013, at her Higgins Lake, MI home. Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Walsh Funeral Home, Roscommon, MI. She was born the daughter of Norman Freeman and Leonora (Strassburger) Hascall on August 2, 1924, in Toledo, where she also married Edward "Ned" B. Wickes Jr. on September 16, 1944. She moved to Higgins Lake in 1993. She volunteered with many organizations and groups. She was a former director of Foster Grandparents of Toledo, a founding member and past director of the Toledo Senior Citizens Center, past president of the League of Women Voters in Toledo, founding member of Hospice of Northwest Ohio and a long-time volunteer at Maumee Valley Country Day School. Preceding her in death were her parents and a brother, Norman Hascall. Surviving are her husband, Ned; children, Edward B. Wickes III of Higgins Lake, William G. (Eleanor) Wickes of Westport, MA, Elisabeth W. (Robert) Lane of Killingworth, CT, and Mary M. Wickes of Chicago; grandchildren, Joshua (Natasha) Sky, Nathan (Amanda) Lane, Helen and Bennett Wickes and Henry Cunningham; great-grandchildren, Lane, Calder, Mershon and Huxley Sky and Zephyr Lane.
