  Laura Gottesman, a friend of Polly Stone, works at the Library of Congress. She found the following about Philip Hamer’s wife Betty: Elizabeth was assistant librarian of Congress for American and library studies. She was married to Philip May Hamer, former director of the National Historical Publications Commission. He died in 1971 and she then married Lawrence Robert Kegan, president of the Population Crisis Committee. Her obituary was published in the Washington Post on March 11, 1979.
