TILTON -- George E. Lees Jr., 70, a longtime resident of Dunlop Drive, died Nov. 9, 2004, at Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia, after a sudden illness.
Born in Northfield Oct. 1, 1934, he was the son of George E. Lees Sr. and Dorothy (Benton) Lees.
He was a lifelong resident of the Northfield-Tilton area and graduated from Tilton-Northfield High School in 1952. He had been an account manager at Arwood Corp. and Wyman Gordon Co. in Northfield for many years before retiring. For more than 15 years, he served as a volunteer with the Tilton-Northfield Fire Department and Fire Rescue. He was active with the Tilton former 49's Drum and Bugle Corps, sponsored by American Legion Post 49 in Northfield. He served with the New Hampshire National Guard in Franklin. Mr. Lees was a lifetime member of Franklin Lodge of Elks, BPOE, 1280. He loved lighthouses and was a Red Sox fan. He was always gracious to others and was known for his sense of humor.
The family includes his wife of 20 years, Rachel Lees of Tilton; two sons, George E. Lees III of Stratham and Richard A. Lees of Northfield; three daughters, Joanne Powers Lees of Northfield, Stacey A. Morrison of Peterborough and April L. Leonard of Concord; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Nancy Bouchard of Groveland, Mass., and Betty Ball and Dorothea Raffaelly, both of Franklin; and nieces and nephews.
