  Richmond Times-Dispatch (VA) May 16, 1989 The Rev. Louis A. Haskell, 80, former rector of Grace and Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Richmond, died Saturday at Westminster- Canterbury House following a long illness. He was 80. A native of South Carolina, Dr. Haskell was a graduate of Washington and Lee University. He received a bachelor of divinity degree from Virginia Theological Seminary in 1938 and a doctorate from VTS in 1961. He served as an assistant at Christ Church in Raleigh, N.C., in 1938-40 and was rector of St. John's Episcopal Church in Suffolk in 1940-46. He was rector of churches in Florence, S.C., and Charleston, W.Va., before coming to the North Laurel Street church in Richmond in 1962. Dr. Haskell retired as rector of Grace and Holy Trinity in 1977 and was elected rector emeritus. He was a former trustee of VTS and St. Catherine's School in Richmond. He retired to Hendersonville, N.C., then moved to Westminster-Canterbury in Virginia Beach in 1983. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Bright Gracey Haskell; and four daughters, Judith Brewer of Short Hills, N.J., Katherine Subramanian of Philadelphia, Sally Hulcher of Richmond and Connie Haskell of Boston.
