  East Oregonian (Pendleton, OR) November 26, 2014 Eunice L. Hascall, 85, of West Birch Creek, Pilot Rock died Monday, November 24, 2014. Mrs. Hascall was born May 4, 1929, in Pendleton to Jerry William and Dora Sarah Northup Eaton. She graduated from Pendleton High School. On May 29, 1946, she married Wayne Hascall in Pendleton. They made their home on West Birch Creek in Pilot Rock. They had three children, Lon Hascall of Stanfield, Allan Hascall and Neva Hascall of Pilot Rock; seven grandchildren, Ila Kralman of Milton-Freewater, Amy Wagoner of Hermiston, Rae Solomon of Pendleton, Jennifer Warner of Pilot Rock, Josyln Harp of Renton, WA, Jeremy Hascall of Pilot Rock and Patrick Hascall of Pilot Rock and 15 great-grandchildren. Eunice was an active participant in all phases of the family wheat and cattle ranch, from working the fields and driving truck to working the cattle. She helped to develop the herd of cattle from milk cows in the 1950s, raising orphaned calves to build a significant herd of Angus cattle that continue to produce today. She was an avid horsewoman and rider. She enjoyed trail riding and working cattle horseback in her younger years. She also enjoyed raising foals and helping with the horse 4-H club activities. Together, Wayne and Eunice started a rental properties business they worked tenaciously to expand to several units. She continued to oversee and run this until her passing. In her later years, she enjoyed playing pinochle with family, collecting dolls, gardening and watching older western movies. She was an animal lover, taking in stray or injured animals of all kinds and nursing them to health. Eunice also enjoyed spending time in the mountains, fencing, mushroom hunting and checking on cattle. This past Memorial Day, she traveled to Sumpter, OR, with family, reminiscing about time spent in the Trout Meadows area during the summers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, of 51 years, her sister, Geraldine Shirley, and brothers, Bry, Lee and Elton French.
