Kathryn Ellen Hascall, 85, died May 5 at Berthoud Living Center. She was born Nov. 17, 1915, in Wheeler County, Neb., to Albert Earl Signer and Kate (Donovan) Signer. She was raised in Nebraska. She married Vincent C. Hascall May 27, 1939, in Netawaka, Kan.
She was a school teacher before World War II. She moved to Longmont in 1945. She worked with her husband running their grocery store, Hascall's Drive-in Market from 1948 to 1974. She moved from Longmont to Berthoud in 1979. She was active in Silver Spruce Rebekah Lodge No. 16 and with activities as the Berthoud Senior Center. She belonged to the First Presbyterian Church in Berthoud.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she enjoyed knitting and making comforters for her family. She also enjoyed playing cards, baking and cooking.
She is survived by sons, Vincent C. Hascall Jr. of Cleveland, Ohio, and Michael Hascall of Berthoud; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Vincent; sons Dennis E. Hascall and Harvey E. Hascall; two brothers, one sister and one grandson.
