Coburn L. Grabenhorst May 27, 1917 - Feb. 28, 1999
Coburn Grabenhorst, 81, of Salem died Sunday. He was born in Salem and graduated from the University of Washington. He served in the Navy during World War II, earned a Bronze Star and was a rear admiral at the time of his retirement in 1959. He formed several real estate companies, was an innovator in the real estate community and led efforts to restore historical buildings in downtown Salem. He was founder and director of Western Security Bank and board member of Northwest Natural Gas. He was Salem Realtor and Oregon Realtor of the Year and earned several distinguished service awards.
His memberships included Goodwill Industries, Salem Hospital, Salem Rotary Club, Historic Elsinore Theatre and Mission Mill Museum.
Survivors include his wife, Jean (Morrison) whom he married in 1942 and son, Coburn Jr. of Salem.
