ROYERSFORD, Pa. -- Ruth Irene (Bachand) Loescher, 87, formerly of 179 East Princeton Road, Princeton, Mass., and Fitchburg, Mass., died Sunday, Sept. 8, in Montgomery County Geriatric and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born June 17, 1915, in Leominster, Mass., the daughter of Alfred and Annie (Day) Bachand, and had lived many years in Fitchburg before moving to Princeton in the early 1970s. She moved to Pennsylvania five years ago.
Along with her husband, Mrs. Loescher raised and bred Siberian huskies. Over a period of 20 years they traveled to many dog shows, where their huskies won many trophies. She was a member of the Siberian Husky Club of America and a former member of the Holy Family League of Charity in Fitchburg. Many years ago, Mrs. Loescher worked at the former F.W. Woolworth Co. department store and Bay State Curtain Co., both in Fitchburg.
She leaves two sons, George A. Loescher of Aurora, Colo., and Keith E. Loescher of Swarthmore, with whom she lived; a daughter, Lee E. Fournier of Lunenburg, Mass.; a sister, Dorothy Weymouth of East Haven, Vt.; two grandsons, nephews and nieces.
Her husband of 56 years, George H. Loescher, died on Feb. 19, 1993.
She was also predeceased by a brother, Alden C. Bachand, on April 28, 1992; and two sisters, Myrtle L. Loescher on Sept. 29, 1995, and Flora Parker.
