  Portland Press Herald (ME) September 13, 1995 Vinal H. King, 76, of High Street died Tuesday at Mid Coast Hospital, following a prolonged illness. He was born here, a son of Dr. Elmer H. and Gladys F. Haskell King, and attended local schools and Choate Preparatory School in Connecticut. He married Margaret Gordon in June 1940. They had just celebrated their 55th anniversary. At 16, he went to work at Bath Iron Works, where he learned the machinist trade. In 1944, he enlisted in the Navy, serving as machinist mate on the USS Bilet APD 109. He returned to Bath Iron Works after the war and retired as a master machinist 42 years later, in 1977. Mr. King enjoyed fly fishing. After retirement, he did clock and watch repair as a hobby. He was night captain on the Bath Iron Works Fire Department, and was a member of the Bath Rifle Club and the Bath Iron Works Bowling League. Surviving is his wife of 55 years; two sons, Brian H. King of Valley City, Ohio, and Alan H. King of Kennesaw, Ga.; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Arlene) Billington of Bath and Mrs. Bruce (Janet) Corbett of Colchester, Conn.; a brother, Dr. E. Henry King of Gainesville, Fla.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
